Staying updated on new Developments in Technology
As a Trinity trained Computer Scientist, some friends typically ask me how I stay abreast of all the latest technological developments in the world. My simple answer is I can’t pay attention to all but I try to know what new trends exist in areas that I am interested in.
One way I listen for trends is to subscribe to certain magazines and forums. Some of the resources I use are:
The MIT Technology Review Magazine: It’s a bi-monthly magazine. Its current subscription prize for the digital copy is $35 a year.
Twitter: You can select what sub topics you are interested in seeing in your timeline.
The Economist: The Economist technology section is actually quite good.
HackerNews: Don’t let the name fool you. It is accessible to most people and contains nuggets of information, especially in the comments section.
The resources above are not exhaustive but they should get you started. I hope this post helps you leverage new technologies to build businesses.
Note: The resources listed above are not sponsored by the organisations mentioned.
